SecurityWhat advantage does practising a basic emergency plan with family give during unexpected situations?

In emergencies—fire, gas leak, medical incident—people don’t rise to the occasion; they fall to their training. If your family has never discussed what to do, everyone reacts differently, sometimes in ways that make things worse.

A basic plan might include: which exit to use, where to meet outside, who grabs which child or elder, who calls emergency services, and where a small go-bag or medical kit is kept. Practising it once or twice, calmly, turns it into muscle memory.

During a real event, instead of shouting instructions over panic, people know roughly what’s expected. You save precious minutes and reduce confusion. Nobody is too young or too old for at least one simple instruction they can remember.
